What we like
- Dense, multilingual text rendering is its focus
- Bounding-box control lets you say where a headline, logo or subject goes
- Open weights with a commercial license, plus hosted access
Watch out for
- Less focused on pure fine-art styles than Midjourney
- Plan limits can change, so check before a big project
- Always proofread text in the output
Ideogram is an AI image generator known for putting readable text inside images, which makes it a favourite for posters, covers, logos and social graphics.
What is current
Ideogram 4.0 was released on June 3, 2026 as an open-weight image model with a commercial license. Ideogram highlights dense multilingual text rendering, layout control through bounding boxes, and 2K output. It is a 9.3 billion parameter model, and hosted access is available on ideogram.ai and through the Ideogram API. See the model tracker.
How prompting works
State the subject and style, then put the exact text in quotation marks with placement and typography hints. With bounding-box control you can also specify where the logo, headline or subject sits on the canvas. Proofread the result: even good tools slip on spelling and spacing.
Who should use it
Designers, small businesses and creators who need graphics with words in them. For stylised art see Midjourney. Compare it in Ideogram vs GPT Image.
