How we test and write

Our method, in five steps. It applies to every review, comparison, best-of list and prompt page on the site.

  1. 1

    Start from the maker

Model names, versions, limits and prices come from each maker’s own announcements and documentation. We link the source and show the date we checked.

  2. 2

    Test with a fixed prompt

For comparisons we use the same prompt in every tool and judge the result against the same checklist: following the prompt, detail, text, consistency and editing options.

  3. 3

Say what we did not test

If a feature was not tested, or a number comes from the maker and not from us, the page says so.

  4. 4

    Keep pages current

Pages show when they were last checked. When a tool is retired or replaced, we mark it instead of leaving it to look current.

  5. 5

    Keep ranking separate from money

Some links are affiliate links. We may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and it never decides a ranking or a verdict.

See it in practice. Read our same prompt in four generators test, browse the comparisons or check the dated model tracker. Found a mistake? Email rrruco@gmail.com.
