Midjourney reads a short description plus optional parameters at the end. Start with the subject and light, then add the parameters. Copy a prompt, then change one thing at a time.
Landscape
a misty mountain valley at sunrise, layered ridges, soft golden light, calm and cinematic --ar 16:9
Change the time of day first: dusk and fog give very different moods.
Portrait
a close portrait of an elderly fisherman, weathered skin, natural window light, 85mm lens look, shallow depth of field --ar 4:5
Use “35mm” for wider, more environmental portraits.
Architecture
a minimalist concrete house in a pine forest, large glass walls, overcast light, architectural photography --ar 3:2
Add a material or a region to steer the style.
Food
a rustic bowl of tomato soup with basil on a wooden table, overhead shot, soft daylight, editorial food photography --ar 4:5
Product
a matte black ceramic coffee mug on a pale stone surface, soft shadow, studio lighting, clean background --ar 1:1 --no text, logo
—no removes things you do not want.
Illustration
a flat vector illustration of a lighthouse at night, limited palette of navy, teal and warm yellow --ar 3:4
Style reference
a lighthouse on a cliff at dusk --sref https://example.com/your-reference.jpg
Replace the link with your own reference image.
Variety
a lighthouse in a field of glass flowers --chaos 30 --ar 3:2
Higher —chaos gives more varied results.
